2009 January 20 Dallas gallery Work has sent me to Dallas for a month. I've been wandering around the city centre and took some photos. Galatyn Park plaza in Richardson, about ten minutes walk from my hotel. An unrelated company nearby. They may be bankrupt, but they still have nice offices. Nortel used to be in the telecommunications business. The Galatyn Park nature reserve. I can't get used to the way the woods here smell of neither pine nor eucalyptus. An American Grey Squirrel in the wild, waiting to be fed. It's not true that everyone in Texas drives, and here is the proof: my local DART station. The DART took me to downtown Dallas. The streets are quiet and a little sleepy. There's not even much traffic. There are actually very few skyscrapers in Dallas. This is the biggest; it's the Bank of America Plaza. The Old Red Courthouse (old meaning 1890). It is superbly gargoyled. This is a replica of the first house in Dallas (built by John Neely Bryan in 1839. The original, not the replica.). The infamous book depository. The grassy knoll is just off to the left. Lee's window is the square one on the 5th floor (UK style) with the half-open window. Kennedy's cenotaph. It's completely empty apart from a stone slab in the middle. And now here's a naked woman on a cow. Martin Martinez, a genuine street performance artist in both senses of the word, in the West End of Dallas; see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqjS2Q-KKvQ. The map said there was a park here... The fountain at Galatyn Park at night.
